Do not conform yourselves to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:2

Before the first meeting:
Catholics should contact the church of their baptism and procure a “New Baptismal certificate, with notations.” It’s essential that the certificate be newly issued and have notations for marriage.
Non-Catholic Christians, please provide a copy of your baptismal certificate.
At the first meeting, you’ll begin the paperwork and marriage preparation process together with the priest.
Our beautiful church is conviently located in the midst of many wonderful wedding venues, and Catholics often search for a church in close proximity to their desired venue. Look no further!

Congratulations on the birth of your child. We are excited to assist you in baptizing your child into the Catholic Church! Preparation for this important step is vital, so let’s get started!
It all starts by filling out our basic information form (it should take 3-5 minutes, depending on how fast you type and if you have all of your info on hand).
Choosing godparents is an important decision. You are selecting someone whose Christian faith you admire and would like to be a spiritual influence in the life of your child — someone who helps you know the person of Jesus better.
It is only necessary to have one godparent; however, if you choose to have two, they must be of the opposite sex and both must be practicing Catholics. A letter of good standing from their respective pastors is required to be submitted at least two weeks ahead of the planned baptism.
Parents get to attend a baptism preparation class with a few other families preparing for the Sacrament. Please call the rectory for class dates at 201-434-0798.
*Please note, before we can baptize your child, at least one parent needs to be a registered parishioner at OLC.

OCIA stands for Order of Christian Initiation of Adults, the formal program that allows individuals to become members of the Catholic church or receive Sacraments that were not received in childhood. Our OCIA program starts in the fall and continues through the Easter Season.
Joining OCIA, however, does NOT mean you HAVE to become Catholic. You’re always welcome to join and learn. If you decide it’s not for you — or maybe you just aren’t ready yet because you have more questions — you can opt out or continue on again next year.
For some the purpose of the OCIA journey is to simply learn more about the faith itself. For others, it is a process of preparing to become Catholic. For both, it is an introduction to the
fundamental beliefs of our faith and its moral structures, while equipping all to put those principles into practice in daily life.

"Having gone through it twice, Frederic and I are big fans of OCIA. We started with deep skepticism but a desire to learn more, and were blessed to be met with patience and purposeful instruction. OCIA provided a structured space for us to work through our doubts at our own pace, while also refocusing our attention onto the foundation of the life of the church - the sacraments. There we found a richness we weren’t even looking for.
We encourage anyone with questions about the Catholic Church, however big or small, to give OCIA a try. We hope that through OCIA you will feel the quality and care put into the program by Deacon Pak and others, and that you will share in the joy we now feel as members of the historic church founded by Jesus Christ."
